  1. In addition to the dream described in the article, I also have a recurring dream that I’m back in high school while also holding my Ph.D–yet no one believes me and they insist that I need to finish high school again anyway. Another favorite is forgetting the combination to my high school locker and having to go to the office for help. Ack!!!

  2. I had a recurring dream for ten years and, thankfully, a gestalt exercise in grad school lifted the veil off of its meaning; I never had it again.

I had acted out the dream in a group setting. It was so liberating.

Thank you, Glenn, for the prompt.

  3. Very insightful. And, now that I connect the issues I encountered throughout the day to this dream, this theory, feeling inadequate, it makes sense. Thank you for this article.

I have the school dream at least once a week. For me, it’s a really deep feeling of unfinished business.

Around a year ago at this time, I dropped out of nursing school for good because I was told I would not pass the clinical portion. After much heartache and pain from the whole experience, I decided to drop out because I couldn’t take anymore of it.

In my dreams, I’m always back at high school and I miss the first or last period of class for that day which ultimately would result in an automatic ‘F.” I run around frantically trying to figure out what I’m going to do to make this time up. All i want to do is talk to the school advisor, but the office never lets me.

One dream recently really got to me. Everyone in my graduating class had their cap and gown on and were walking toward the graduation ceremony. Shamefully I was headed in the other direction, away from the ceremony, doomed to fail and return the following year.

I thought I was the only person that have this dream. Its crazy because I have my bachelors as well as a masters degree

I used to have this dream all the time but now it has faded. My most repetitious dream now is that of having killed someone, buried them, and forgotten about it until other people are investigating my ancient crime. Feelings of guilt, shame, fear of getting caught for previous transgressions.

    • Holy ****, I know I’m a little late to the game here, but I was just googling about my reoccurring dream about not graduating high school and immediately before was googling about my reoccurring dream of the exact dream you described above, realizing I buried a body but only after people are starting to look for it years later..:

It’s nice to feel like you’re not the only one, but this is next level coincidence here.
